SUMMER SOLSTICE

Yesterday Summer began and we moved to Stonehenge to celebrate the longest day of the year: The Summer Solstice.

There was music, workshops and a cooperative mandala made out of natural components (pine cones, stones, leaves, sticks, flowers...).  

The whole school participated in the activities, enjoying, at last, the company of other students beyond their school year.

Ayer empezó el verano y el cole se mudó a Stonehenge para celebrar el día más largo del año: El solsticio de verano.

Hubo música, talleres y un mandala cooperativo hecho de elementos naturales (piña, piedras, hojas, palos, flores...).

Todo el centro participó en las actividades, disfrutando, por fin, de la compañía de otros alumnos más allá de su curso.

READING BUDDIES

Last week the Reading Buddies Programme was launched for the first time in our school.

Students from upper-grade classrooms read a story to lower-grade ones, in small groups.
The activity is not just about reading and listening, but also about promoting joy while doing it, as well as developing feelings of responsibility and creating emotional bonds in our community.
They had a great time and discovered other ways of using the foreign language.

La semana pasada el programa "Reading Buddies" (compañeros de lectura") fue lanzado por primera vez en nuestro colegio.

Alumnos de cursos superiores leyeron un cuento a allumnos de cursos inferiores, en grupos pequeños.

La actividad no trata solo de leer y escuchar, si no también de promover el gusto por la lectura, además de crear sentimientos de responsabilidad y lazos afectivos en nuestra comunidad educativa. Los chic@s pasaron un rato genial y descubrieron otras formas de usar la lengua extranjera.
